APPLICATION
Ready to apply? Well, you are in the right place! Hop on down and copy-paste the application, but first we would like it if you went over a few things before you find yourself diving into game. We would really appreciate it if you went over the rules, as well as the taken character list to make sure the character you are applying for has not been taken already. You also might want to check out holds just to make sure. You can't be too careful you know.
Please make sure that you read over the FAQ and the HP canon guide to clear anything up, and if you feel like something has not been mentioned, post a comment and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. If having difficulty with your application, we recommend you give the Application Guide a look over as well.
T H I N G S T O T A K E N O T E O F;
1. The mods have the jurisdiction to approve or deny any application submitted.
2. You can post your application with whichever journal you choose. If it's easier, you can also link to your application.
3. You may only apply for ONE character at a time. Once that character is approved than you may choose another. A player is not allowed more than one un-responded to application on the application forum. For all new players to the RP, we ask you wait one week before applying as a new character, this will give you time to settle in to the community.
4. Before you apply, make sure your character is not a Canon OC! Characters that don't have much backstory or never speak but you can get inferences of their personality are considered Canon OCs. The application form for these is located here. On the other hand, if the character's canon is ongoing and it's still early in their introduction, we recommend postponing your application until you can get more information on them.
5. When applying for a Hetalia Character, we request that you phrase the Canon history in the context of the comic, as opposed to the actual history of the country. This is so we can see how the history translates in to the anthropomorphic character.
6. PLEASE KEEP OOC CONVERSATION OUT OF THE APP POST! At least keep it to a minimum if you are going to say something such as 'huzzah for [fill in character name here]', get their AIM and tell them in person. I am sure they would rather hear it that way.
7. We don't have App Cycles at this rp. If applying for a:
→ Student: The most important thing to remember for students is that they are students who go to school. Be prepared to observe all student rules, meaning there are IC consequences for fighting, sneaking out after curfew, and pranks. That doesn't mean not to have fun, just know your character can get in trouble for it! There are also classes with homework, but signing up and doing school work is optional. More info on student rules are here and these spots will always be open.
→ Teacher/TA: Keep in mind what characters are suitable to teach, and pick a subject that makes sense for them (and for Hogwarts if it's a non- canon class). There is a maximum of two teachers and two TAs on any given subject and occupied teacher and TA spots can be seen there. Teacher characters should do Homework often, which can be posted here. Teachers are encouraged to give out detentions, house points, and overall, remember that they're teachers. More info on teacher rules are here. Currently: OPEN TO ALL CLASSES
→ Staff Member: Similar to professors, minus the assignments, they have a degree of authority as well, but not as much as teachers. They focus on working in the hospital wing, library, grounds, etc. Just like professors, they shouldn't entirely neglect their jobs for social interaction and will use the same application form as teachers. Occupied staff positions can be seen here. Currently: OPEN TO ALL CLASSES
8. If your application is:
→Accepted: Congratulations! Follow the instructions, add yourself to all the lists, and welcome to Sorting Hat!
→Wavered: We think your application could use a few improvements to be up to the quality of our roleplay. You have a week to adjust these issues before the character is up for grabs again. If you reapply and we still don't find it up to par, you will be rejected.
→Rejected: There are significant problems with the application, so you must wait one week before reapplying or reserving that character (unless you already have a hold on that character, but you can't renew it if the hold expires). However, if you want to apply a different character, you can do so whenever.

Character Information
Name:
AziraphaleEzra FellCanon Origin/Series: Good Omens
Teaching Position and why it suits them: Librarian. In canon, Aziraphale has a fascination with books (misprinted Bibles, books of prophecy, and Oscar Wilde first editions in particular, though his collection is clearly extensive on top of these specializations). He primarily stores this collection in a book “shop” in Soho which he guards fiercely.
Suitability: I think he’s quite suitable. Canon shows Aziraphale as being willing to be around kids, even though it usually turns out pretty embarrassing and awkward (mostly because he’s so old-fashioned and kind of an immense nerd)
Gender: Male
Age: A gentleman is discreet about such matters (38)
Out of school living location: Soho, London, England. His family home is on the South Downs and he splits his time between the two locations.
Blood status: Pureblood
Personality: Well now, I can’t very well start off this section without referencing what might be the most famous line in the book, can I?
"Many people, meeting Aziraphale for the first time, formed three impressions: that he was English, that he was intelligent, and that he was gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide."
As the book goes on to state, 2 of those 3 things are inaccurate. Aziraphale can’t be English as he is an angel, specifically a Principality. He isn’t gay for the same reason; angels are completely sexless unless they “really want to make an effort”, and Aziraphale comes across as being especially unconcerned about making such an effort.
So let’s start with the one common conception about Aziraphale that is true. He is quite intelligent… but it’s a somewhat specialized intelligence. Aziraphale is very book smart (which tends to happen when one spends a millennium or two collecting or otherwise being somewhat slavishly devoted to books) and knowledgeable within very particular parameters. When it comes to things he finds unnecessary or distasteful, he can be surprisingly naïve, dismissive, or begrudging of it.
This comes from the fact that Aziraphale is pretty bad at fitting in with modern times. The book states that when his mind does find itself in the 20th century, it invariably hovers around the 1950’s. He’s very old-fashioned and somewhat resistant to change in general, and this manifests in everything from his speech (rather genteel and prone to addressing others as ‘dear’) to his choice in clothing (“Tartan is fashionable.”). As an example, though he does own a computer, it is incredibly slow, old, and is only used to keep track of his accounts. This makes him a very interesting foil to Crowley, who eagerly embraces new technology and modern amenities which Aziraphale tends to view with skepticism or patronization.
As stated, his old-fashioned tendencies make him somewhat resistant to change, and a good example of this is how he reacts to the approaching Apocalypse. Whereas Crowley is eager to do something – anything – to prevent the Apocalypse, Aziraphale is considerably more hesitant. As befits an angel, Aziraphale is considerably fatalistic and a bit nervous about questioning his superiors (God and higher angels). When questioned about… pretty much anything God and Heaven does, his answer almost always hinges on ‘ineffability’ and how it isn’t right to question these things. That said, it is rather clear that he is not 100% confident in these matters and, in fact, hasn’t been since the fall of mankind at the very least judging from some of his dialogue with Crowley at the very start of the novel. Aziraphale’s hesitation to question authority makes sense; although he is friends with Crowley and likely has a general idea what Falling (or at least sauntering vaguely downwards) entails, that doesn’t mean he should or is eager to find out personally. It takes a drunken argument with Crowley (who aims right for Aziraphale’s soft spots) to convince him to try sabotaging the Apocalypse at all.
And what, exactly, is Crowley’s ammunition to convince Aziraphale to participate in what could be argued as treason against Heaven? He strikes at Aziraphale’s interests and hobbies, which dominate his existence more than distant superiors up in Heaven. Aziraphale’s primary fascination is with books; the novel goes so far as to say that Aziraphale “worships” them, which is technically though perhaps not literally true (the fact that he ultimately is swayed to help Crowley keep the Earth from ending because it offers him far more things that interest him than Heaven ever could speaks volumes). Listing the rest of Aziraphale’s hobbies and interests would start to get exhaustive, but most of them are quaint if not a bit esoteric and decidedly out-of-fashion (sushi being the notable exception).
In short, Aziraphale is a polite, somewhat gentlemanly fellow-shaped-spiritual-entity who tries very hard to embody the traits of a good angel. It’s just that he has spent so much time on Earth and has come to love so much of what it and its people have to offer that his priorities and allegiances have gone a little hazy. He truly does mean well and worries about actively rebelling against his superiors, but gets a little wrapped up in his little vices and fussy behaviors. In a way, he and his counterpart Crowley no longer fully identify with their ‘bosses’ and identify more with each other and human beings than they do their sides in the vast cosmic game that is the animosity between Heaven and Hell. As Crowley notes towards the end of the book, Aziraphale is “just enough of a bastard to be worth liking.”
APP BOGO | Aziraphale/Ezra Fell | Good Omens | Reserved
Background (AU!Canon; HP): paranormalEzra Fell was born into a very old, very rich, very well respected Pureblood family which valued intelligence over every other quality. As a result, Ezra’s early childhood was dominated by books – the older, rarer, and more esoteric the better. He learned to read early and spent countless hours poring over his family’s extensive library. By the time he got his long-anticipated Hogwarts acceptance letter, he already knew much about the History of Magic as well as theories about various types of magic.
Upon his arrival at Hogwarts, Ezra was sorted into Ravenclaw almost immediately after the Sorting Hat was placed on his head. He excelled in most of his classes, especially History of Magic, Divination (though he was more interested in what others predicted), Transfiguration, and Charms. He spent most of his time in the library, either researching for assignments or simply for his own entertainment. Though he was a brilliant student, he was somewhat socially awkward. He was always polite and well-intentioned, but was content being on his own or sticking to very small social groups. He was made a prefect in his fifth year and remained one for the rest of his days in Hogwarts; the only reason he was not made Head Boy in his seventh year was a lack of interest on his part. The fact that he was rather fussy, a bit of a stickler for the rules (when bending them a bit didn’t benefit him), and always acted considerably older than a typical teenager did not endear him to many of his peers. Many people who didn’t know him well considered him a bit of a drag.
As a teenager, Ezra did not date and showed absolutely no interest in it in any way. Although he leans slightly more towards an interest in men, he possesses little to no sex drive whatsoever and never really experienced any of the terrible hormonal upheavals that come with puberty. The closest he came to any interest in anything like it is a massive literary crush which he developed on Oscar Wilde at age 16; he still has it to this very day. Needless to say, this did not help his image in school.
Upon graduating from Hogwarts, Ezra did freelance work for the Ministry, specializing in restoring and maintaining volatile or rare books of magic. It was decent work, but at the end of the day he was always a little miffed that the books weren’t actually in his collection. His parents had been a bit older at the time of his birth, and when they passed away, he was left with their fortune and enormous collection of books. He quit his job with the Ministry and set about searching for rare or strange books of magic for his own collection.
Ezra felt bad for Muggleborns as the war ramped up and eventually broke out in earnest. However, his extremely Pureblood upbringing did him no favors when it came to actually understanding Muggles and Muggleborns. Though he means well, he can be rather patronizing and occasionally views their culture in an unintentionally-insulting, awed-spectator sort of way (this is particularly apparent in his interest in Muggle ‘magic’, i.e. sleight-of-hand). He became a member of the Order of the Phoenix and opened a bookshop in London’s Soho district in order to provide a safe meeting spot for the Order (and also to hold some of the overflow of his ever-expanding collection). Ezra never actually fought in any battles, though he did host many meetings and even sheltered several Order members or Muggleborns when there was reason to believe their homes would be targeted for Death Eater attacks.
As his bookshop is mostly a front for part of his book collection (and, before the war ended, for the Order), Ezra loathes making sales. His shop hours are odd and unpredictable, often open during hours which are as short as they are unusual. He’s also (intentionally) far from a model salesman, and is passive-aggressively hostile towards anyone who shows signs that they want to buy anything. If pressed hard enough, he will sell people things, but it’s far from his first choice.
Currently, Ezra is enjoying the fact that the Wizarding world is at peace once more. He has recently been asked to come to Hogwarts and act as the school’s librarian and has accepted the offer after ensuring that his shop will be looked after without any sales occurring without his permission. He’s eager to be near some of the books he treasured as a student and to lend his expertise to any youths who understand the joy of the written word. He’s secretly hoping that the students won’t just see the library as a convenient place to nap or make out, but he’s expecting to be disappointed there. apptivity
