→ We currently have 2 vampires. For all of these characters, unless you are ICly told they are a vampire, you do not know.

→ We currently have 1 werewolf. For any of these characters, unless you are ICly told they are a werewolf, you do not know.

→ We currently have 3 part Veela characters. If you're part Veela, you're not going to be considered a pureblood.

→ We currently have 1 Animagi. ALWAYS talk to a mod if you want your character to have this ability.

→ We currently have 0 Metamorphamagi. Metamorphamagi are born, not made, so characters would have this from the get go.

→ We currently have 0 ghosts, excluding NPCs. Ghosts can be teachers or simply Hogwarts ghosts, but please ask a mod before applying as a student-aged ghost.

→ We currently have 0 Parselmouth. Like Metamorphmagi, Parselmouths are born and not made.

Hogwarts is located in Scotland. A Map of everyone's residence in relation to the others is on this SUPER COOL MAP.

Layout of the school

sortinghat_rp uses the floor plan that was found on the internet, which can be found here. Other notable locations on the school grounds are the Forbidden Forest, the Whomping willow, the Herbology green houses, the lake, and the Quidditch pitch.

- The Forbidden forest is, as its name indicates, forbidden. Students are not allowed to enter in to the forest unless it is a school requirement, such as for Care of Magical Creatures or Detention.

-The Whomping Willow is also another thing that students are urged not to get close to, as the tree will try to play whack-a-mole with you. The tree also a cover for the secret passageway to the Shrieking Shack.

-The lake is usable for swimming and recreational purposes but students are to take note of the creatures that live in the lake, the giant squid and the merpeople.

Common room locations

→ Gryffindor common room is located in one of the castle's highest towers, the entrance to which is located on the seventh floor in the east wing of the castle and is guarded by a painting of The Fat Lady, who is garbed in a pink dress. She permits entry only after being given the correct password.

→ The Hufflepuff dormitories and common room are located somewhere in the basement, through an entrance near the kitchens. How to enter is not stated in canon, thus to gain entry to the common room, students must hug a statue of Sacharissa Tugwood (meaning there is no password). The dormitories are accessed through hallways with small, perfectly round doors.

→ The Ravenclaw dormitories are located in the tower on the west side of the school. A logical riddle must be solved in order to gain entry. The Ravenclaw common room is wide, circular, and airy, with arched windows.

→ The Slytherin dormitories and common room are reached via password through a bare stone wall in the dungeons. The Slytherin common room is a long, low, dungeon-style room, located under the Hogwarts Lake, furnished with green lamps and carved armchairs.
